In accordance with the guidelines set out by the Animal Pedigree Act, “APA” of Canada, the
BIEWER BREED CLUB CANADA has established the first Canadian registry for the Biewer. At
the present time the Biewer Breed Club Canada is not registered with the APA but has set up this
registry under the APA guidelines.  The focus of the registry will be on the maintaining accurate
records of Biewers registered with the Biewer Breed Club Canada

The registry will keep accurate pedigree information considered critical to the improvement of the
breed, ensure that the established breed standards are adhered to, preserve the genetic background
thereby increasing the integrity of the information to protect persons who raise and purchase
animals for domestic and foreign trade purposes and provide protection to buyers of breeding
stock.

The registry is available to members of the Biewer Breed Club Canada and the public who adhere
to the breeding/ownership practices as outlined in the Biewer Breed Club Canada’s breed order
and code of ethics.

The registry will be named
“Biewer Breed Club Canada Registry”, (BBCCR).  It is a private
registry, covered by the guidelines set out and adhering to The Animal Pedigree Act with no
information shared without written permission.

The registry will maintain a database of all submitted Biewer pedigrees and litter registries,
insuring breed improvement programs by accurately maintaining pedigree records and by
incorporating other performance information.

Pedigrees will contain the detailed information provided on the application and will be permanent,
transferable registration to owners.  Breeders have a right to specify their own details.

It is a requirement of the BBCCR that all Biewers submitted for registration are DNA tested by a
licensed practising veterinarian.  DNA testing is not required on litters, it becomes the
responsibility of the new owner to submit the DNA profile when registering their newly acquired
Biewer.

Through the use of DNA technology, accurate record keeping and stringent guidelines, the
BBCCR will be able to offer safe, permanent and reliable registration of both foreign and domestic
Biewers.  It is required for imported breeding stock; dogs whose semen is collected for fresh-
extended, chilled or frozen use; and is required prior to breeding sires and dams.

DNA testing ensures the integrity of the BBCCR registry
Guarantees continuity from one generation to the next
Eliminates concerns or questions about identification and parentage
BBCCR will perform Parentage Verification Testing through a recognized lab comparing the
DNA profiles of  dam, sire, and pup(s)which will determine, with greater than 99%
confidence, whether the pups are from the tested dam and sire. The BBCCR database
examines the parentage of all BBCCR DNA Profiled registered dogs and litters.  If problems
are discovered, the registrar staff will work with breeders to determine correct parentage.
Such investigations will be performed at the breeder's expense all fees are the responsibility
of the owner and must be conducted by a veterinarian.  In our estimation  the lab fee is
approx. fifty-dollars …this information may be verified by viewing the Health Gene site
located at www.healthgene.com.

Biewer Registration will include:

An authentic BBCCR Registration Certificate embossed with the BBCCR seal.
The certificate will include the information that you have submitted on your application.
It will have the BBCCR DNA certification that the Biewer has been DNA tested prior to
registration.
BBCCR registration certificate will reflect that your dog has a DNA profile recorded in the
stud book of the Biewer Breed Club Canada Registry and future pedigrees will reflect that a
DNA Profile is on record for that sire or dam.

Breeders who register a litter with the BBCCR  will be supplied with:

A letter of registry
